World Malaria Day is observed on April 25 every year and the theme for 2019 is Zero Malaria Starts With Me. According to the World Malaria Report released by the World Health Organization, this deadly fever claimed more than 4 lakh lives in 2017-18.

Though common in many parts of India, it is one of the serious types of fever that is caused due to the bite of an Anopheles mosquito. The mosquito bite infects the body with parasites which flow into the blood stream, multiplying red blood cells, spreading infection and causing fever within 72 hours.

In the last one decade, the Indian government had put in major efforts in containing Malarial fevers and made a substantial progress in reducing the number of cases.

The typical symptoms of malaria include high fever, headache, nausea and vomiting, chills, sweating, body ache, severe anemia. In severe cases, the fever can cause convulsions and can affect the functioning of liver, kidney, lungs and brain.

There are medications available for treating malaria and the fever would usually settle down in 5 days. However, the road to recovery is tough as malaria causes severe fatigue and lowers immunity. While doctors recommend health supplements to gain energy back, you can also find some easy remedies as recommended by Ayurveda for faster recovery.
