How To Prepare Kalmeghasava?

Ingredients:

12 parts  Kalmegh (Nilavembu) – Andrographis paniculata

40 parts Gur or Jaggeru

100 parts Warm Water            

1 part each of:

Chirata – Swertia Chirata      

Lal Chandan (Red Sandalwood) – Pterocarpus Santalinus            

Ushira (Khas) – Vetiveria Zizanioides      

Dhataki Flower- Woodfordia Fruticosa 

Kutki – Picrorhiza kurroa        

Neem – Azadirachta Indica

Sonth (Ginger Rhizome) – Zingiber Officinale

Haritaki – Terminalia Chebula         

Dhamasa (Duralabha) – Fagonia Cretica             

Patol (Pointed gourd leaves) – Trichosanthes Dioica          

Method:

Wash, dry and powder the herbal components separately

Boil kalmegh powder in the water till it reduces to ¼ of its initial quantity

Filter the solution by passing it through a clean muslin cloth to remove plant parts

Add jaggery to the clear decoction and keep stirring till the jaggery liquifies and everything mixes properly

Next, pour the decoction into a wide-mouthed earthen pot smeared with ghee from the inside

Add the other herbal powders to the solution

Tightly plug the mouth of the container with a mud-smeared cloth

Keep the container in the fermentation room for 30 days and ensure it stays there undisturbed

On culmination of the maturation process, filter the fermented liquid through a clean muslin cloth to eliminate the plant parts and impurities

Pour the herbal medication into an amber-coloured, air-tight glass jar

Place the jar in a cool, dry environment for future use
