Combing Hair For Exactly 100 Strokes Makes It Healthy.

Fact:

Unlike a game of cricket or an exam at school, where scoring a century is a great feat, it is definitely not the case for combing hair. Yes indeed, brushing hair regularly, using a sturdy comb with gentle bristles, helps untangle the knots and spread the nurturing oil all along the scalp, to supply beneficial nutrients and increase hair growth. Yet, doing so repeatedly - that too for 100 times, is excessive and can damage hair.

 Myth #2:

Trimming Hair Regularly Makes It Grow Faster.

Fact:

Many of your friends, who claim to be “hair care experts,” might have advised you to trim the ends of your tresses once every 4–6 weeks, to improve growth. This is entirely false, as hair growth is initiated at the follicles and occurs on the scalp and not at the ends. While trimming hair once every 3 months, no doubt gets rid of split ends, and scanty or thin strands and makes your mane appear fuller, it does not help hair growth in any way.

Plucking One Grey Hair Will Prompt The Growth Of Two More In The Same Spot.

Fact:

OMG! Whoever told you that? While you may feel the constant itch to just yank that ‘odd one out’ - the lone grey hair among the other strands in your natural hair colour, it does not mean that many more will just sprout in its place. Moreover, only one hair can emerge from one follicle anyway, not a whole bunch. Conditioners Are Only For Dry Hair, Not Oily Or Greasy Types.

This is yet another classic example of fake news. While shampoos effectively remove all dirt, dead cells, and chemical product residues from hair, they also contain ingredients that sometimes rid hair of its natural oil secretions. So using conditioners goes hand-in-hand, which works to soften hair and manage roughness. Opt for a moisturising conditioner if you have dry hair; pick a clarifying one for oily or greasy hair; and go for a volumising product to augment thinning hair.

Stress Causes Hair To Turn Grey.

Fact:

Although widely believed to be true, this is actually not the case. While stress does result in oxidative damage to the pigment compounds in hair, which in turn instigates the growth of grey tresses, it is not the sole factor that leads to greying. In the majority of instances, a combination of ageing and genetics is what prompts the spurt of grey hair on the scalp, while at times, it is due to vitamin deficiencies, harsh chemicals in colouring and hair care products, as well as thyroid disorders.
