The redness of the face mainly happens due to the dilation of blood vessels, triggering more blood to rush to the surface of the skin. A lot of factors attribute to rosacea including extreme sunburn, sudden changes in temperature, allergic reactions to facial products, exhausting exercises, menopausal symptoms, over-exfoliation of the skin, spicy food, beverages like alcohol, hot drinks or caffeine or strong emotions like anxiety, stress, and anger and even genetic factors. It is usually characterized by thickening and stinging of the skin, the appearance of broken blood vessels, facial flushing, large open pores, and dry patchy skin and small, rough bumps around the eyes and cheek.
