Ways To Get Rid Of Upper Lip Hair

Threading

Threading despite being the most painful method of removing upper lip hair is indeed the most traditional one. It keeps the upper lip hair away for about twenty days or so. Through doubled and twisted cotton threads, which are rolled over the target area and remove hair from the follicles, this method uproots hair from the root and produces long-lasting effects. It is known to be a hygienic way as well because the thread is used only once and discarded.

Hair Removal Creams

A relatively painless and super easy method to remove unwanted hair, in this method, the ingredients in the cream dissolve the surface hair and help you get clean and smooth upper lips hair in no time. However, the downside is that most of these creams have chemicals, which might not suit sensitive skin types and may cause reactions or allergies. A patch test and less use of these creams are always mostly recommended by dermatologists.

Waxing

A painful technique to remove hair on sensitive areas, waxing is always preferred over hair removal creams due to better results than hair removal creams and for their long-lasting effects. The process is not very complicated and needs a strip of hot wax of tolerable temperature that needs to be placed on the hair growth area and pulled in the direction of hair growth.  It is advised to get waxing done at a salon and this method is generally suggested for concise hair growth. It can be painful if the hair is longer than three-quarters of an inch

Tweezers

Usually done for its super long-lasting results, this upper lip hair removal method is time-consuming. Relatively simpler, all you have to do is simply grasp the skin with one hand while pulling sharply with the tweezer in the direction of the hair’s development. Using tweezers will cause the skin to become red and it may irritate the tweezed area for some time, but goes away on its own. It is advisable when the hair growth is not too dense.

Laser Hair Removal

A permanent solution to getting rid of upper lip hair, in this technique which is gaining high popularity, a dermatologist uses a concentrated beam of laser light to destroy the hair precisely on the hair follicle. However, laser hair removal costs more than traditional methods, and more than one sitting is needed to achieve permanent results.

Face Razors

A super simple and inexpensive method, this is a new fad that a lot of people especially the new generation have started to follow. Most suitable for those with sensitive skin, the person simply uses a shaving cream and moves the razor in the direction of the hair growth. Applying an aloe vera gel or moisturizer after using a razor will keep the skin soft. It is not a very popular one for people who prefer long-lasting methods, as the hair comes back in four to five days.

Facial Epilators

A top choice for lip hair removal, facial epilators are nothing but small electric tweezers to remove facial hair. Since the hair on the lips can be thinner than the rest of the body, it helps to pull multiple hair at the same time. This method can save a lot of time.

Bleaching

Bleaching also has been a simple yet popular way to address upper lip hair woes. It helps to make the hair less visible instead of removing it, thus some people find it an easy and less painful way to hide facial hair. However, the downside is that this method only works for light skin tones, and bleaching dark skin tones might make them look more prominent.

Now that you may know the ins and outs of getting rid of that undesired hair right across your face,  let us also give an insight into an age-old DIY  method. An ancient hair removal practice called sugaring or sugar waxing, this one is one of the least-known methods but is getting attention as it is less painful and results in smooth, hairless skin, which lasts for around four to six weeks. Here is how it is done:

DIY Sugaring

  • Place a medium-sized pot on the stove
  • Add 1 cup white sugar, 1/8 cup warm water 1/8 cup lemon juice ingredients to the pot.
  • Bring to a boil over high heat until the mixture turns golden brown
  • The consistency of your sugar paste should be similar to hot syrup.
  • Apply the sugar to the portion of the hairy area eventually spreading the sugar in the direction of hair growth.
  • The syrup should feel warm but should not hurt or burn
  • Once applied, cover it with a clean strip of cloth
  • Let the cloth sit for about three to four seconds, then hold your skin and remove the cloth in one go
  • Apply a cold pack or a moisturizer after the entire process
