DIY Body Butter Recipes

Cocoa- Lavender Body Butter

Ingredients:

4-5 tbsp cocoa butter

2-3 tbsp almond oil

1-2 tbsp coconut oil

4-5 drops of lavender essential oil

Method:

Melt the cocoa butter in a double boiler

Add both the oils into it and keep it inside the freezer for 5-6 minutes.

Use a mixer to whip the cream till it becomes fluffy.

Store it in an airtight jar to use for a week.

How It Works:

Being high on fatty acids, the butter obtained from cocoa seeds are hyped for their hydrating and nourishing properties to retain the skin moisture. Both almond and coconut oil have anti-bacterial properties, which helps prevent skin infections whereas lavender oil or essence to the recipe imparts an invigorating smell.

Lemon – Vanilla Body Butter

Ingredients:

1 cup shea butter

1 tbsp arrowroot flour starch

1cup coconut oil

2-3 tbsp lemon oil

Few drops of vanilla essence

Method:

Melt the shea butter in a double boiler and keep it aside to cool a bit.

Separately mix the arrowroot starch, coconut oil and lemon oil in a bowl,

Add the arrowroot mixture to the melted butter and beat it properly.

Put it inside the freezer till it solidifies a bit.

Whisk in the vanilla essence until it becomes fluffy like whipped cream.

Store it in an air-tight mason jar at room temperature for future use.

How It Works:

Being one of the best emollients, shea butter promotes collagen formation and helps improve the texture of the skin. Lemon oil rich in antioxidants prevents skin ageing and other infections, whereas the addition of vanilla essence gives it a tantalising aroma. Mint-Green Tea Body Butter

Ingredients:

1 cup kokum butter

½ cup almond oil

2-3 tbsp olive oil

4-5 drops of mint essential oil

5-6 drops of vitamin E oil

2-3 tbsp matcha powder

7-8 finely chopped mint leaves

Method:

Use a double boiler to melt the kokum butter and keep it aside to cool.

Use an egg beater to whisk the cool butter until it becomes frothy.

Place the whisked butter back into the freezer for 30 minutes.

Take it out and again beat the butter while adding the ingredients matcha powder, olive oil, almond oil, vitamin E oil, mint oil and leaves one by one to it.

Continue to beat the mixture for an additional 5 minutes till it has a frothy cream look.

Store it at room temperature, away from sunlight in glass jars for future use.

How It Works:

Kokum butter obtained from the kokum fruit extensively calms inflamed skin while locking in the natural moisture. Both, the nut-based almond oil and olive oil nourishes and moisturises the skin, while matcha powder being rich in antioxidants prevents body acne and increases skin elasticity.
