Homemade Lip Balms
Cocoa-Cinnamon Lip Balm
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons white beeswax pellets
1 tsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp cocoa butter
1 tsp cinnamon powder
2 tsp sweet almond oil
½ tsp mint oil
Method:
Melt the beeswax pellets in a double boiler.
Stir in the bentonite clay, cocoa butter and cocoa powder until it has blended smoothly.
Add the sweet almond oil and cinnamon oil while stirring.
Once it cools down, pour it into small containers for future use.
How It Works?
Cocoa butter is a boon for dry, chapped lips. While the essential oils nourish and moisturise the lips and prevents further drying, cocoa powder imparts a yummy flavour of chocolate that lingers on your lips throughout the day. The addition of cinnamon powder bestows an earthy brownish tinge to your pout.
Shea Butter- Vanilla Lip Balm
Ingredients:
1 tbsp beeswax
1 tbsp shea butter
¼ tsp powdered beetroot
½ tbsp castor oil
3 drops of rose essential oil
2 drops of vanilla extract
Method:
Melt the beeswax, and shea butter in a double boiler.
Switch off the flame, and add all the oils and beetroot powder to it.
While whisking everything together, add the vanilla extract.
Pour into empty lipstick containers and allow it to cool until it solidifies.
How It Works?
The abundance of fatty acids in shea butter gets rid of parched lip problems, while olive oil prevents drying and flaky skin. Honey-Lavender Lip Balm
Ingredients:
1 tbsp cold-pressed coconut oil
1 tbsp grated beeswax
1 tbsp mango butter
3 drops of lavender essential oil
2tsp of beetroot powder
2 tsp of organic honey
2 Vitamin E capsules
Method:
Melt the beeswax and mango butter in a double boiler.
Add coconut, lavender essential oil and vanilla extract to it.
Switch off the flame and add honey, beetroot powder and the vitamin E oil from the capsules and stir everything.
While warm, pour it in a lip balm container and place it in the freezer for it to set.
