DIY Hair Masks

Avocado-Egg Hair Mask

Ingredients:

1 egg

1 avocado

2-3 tbsp olive oil

1-2 tbsp honey

Method:

Scrape out the soft inner part of the avocado.

Beat the egg, olive oil and honey to it and make it into a paste.

Apply the paste all over your hair starting from the roots to the tips.

Leave it on for 15 minutes.

Wash and conditions your hair.

How It Works:

Avocado has potent moisturising properties that hydrate and makes the hair shiny. While eggs strengthen the hair follicles, honey prevents bacterial growth and allergy at the hair roots. The addition of olive oil treats dandruff, itchiness and scalp irritation. This hair mask when done once a week, prevents environmental damage, unclogs hair follicles and improves the hair texture.

Coconut Milk-Banana Hair Mask

Ingredients:

1 banana

½ cup of coconut milk

2 tbsp aloe vera gel

2-3 tbsp almond oil

Method:

Blend all the ingredients into a smooth liquidy paste in a blender.

Strain the liquid to remove extra banana lumps.

Apply it all over the hair strands and wait for 40 minutes.

Wash off with cool water, shampoo and condition your hair.

How It Works:

Laden with vitamin E, banana is extremely beneficial in increasing blood circulation and repairing damaged hair follicles. Coconut milk and oil moisturises the hair and strengthens the strands from the roots. Aloe vera gel, on the other hand, adds a natural sheen and softness to your hair. Applied twice a week, it nourishes the hair and prevents damage from various environmental factors.

Papaya-Yogurt Hair Mask

Ingredients:

½ cup ripe papaya cubes

2-3 tbsp yogurt

1 -2 tbsp coconut oil

Method:

Blend the ripe papaya, yogurt and oil in a blender till it reaches a paste-like consistency.

Apply the paste from the root to the tips of your hair.

Allow it to settle down for 20 minutes.

Wash off with cool water and shampoo and condition your hair.

How It Works:

Papaya enriched with folic acid increases the blood supply to the hair follicles, moisturises them and restores the natural oil in the scalp. Yogurt, being full of protein strengthens the hair strands and removes dead skin cells from the scalp. Use this mask twice a week to evade split ends and other damages and flaunt a gorgeous mane.
