Hay fever is also known as allergic rhinitis is the body’s allergic response to allergens, like pollen, dust particles, animal hair and others. Allergic hay fever is an inflammatory condition, expressed by the body’s sensitive immune system as a hypersensitivity reaction. It is one of the most common allergic conditions in India.

Hay fever is generally classified into two different forms, which are;

Seasonal, wherein the symptoms are often expressed during spring, summer.

Perennial allergic rhinitis, which is generally being experienced throughout the year.

It is quite possible that perennial allergic rhinitis may get worse during specified seasons and can make daily living miserable. People with sensitive immune system are more prone to having allergic rhinitis. Furthermore, people with preexisting allergies or asthma and genetic heredity may also face with hay fever.

Signs And Symptoms:

Persistent Sneezing

Watery eyes

Throat Itching

Blocked, itchy, runny nose

Unusual sweat, fatigue

Lack of energy

Loss of smell or taste

Diagnosis & Treatment:

Specified blood, as well as skin tests, can be suggested to diagnose hay fever. Prescribed medications can include steroidal medicines, anti-inflammatory medicines, eye drops, nasal corticosteroids etc. Alternatively, the doctor may also prescribe immunotherapy, acupuncture and/or other alternative therapies.
