Today is World No Tobacco Day and this year’s theme is ‘tobacco and lung health’. The main aim of World No Tobacco Day is to raise awareness about the negative impact of tobacco on lung health.

Smoking produces more than hundreds of chemicals including nicotine, carbon monoxide and tars and these harmful chemicals change normal cells to cancer cells.

Smoking affects the lungs and its airways. Regular smoking can cause sudden cold and pneumonia while long term habit can lead to emphysema and COPD.

Believe it or not, the health benefits of quitting smoking begin in less than an hour and continue to improve daily. The benefits are instant, the sooner you kick the butt, the faster it reduces the risk of cancers related to lung, heart and other chronic diseases.
