World Kidney Day is observed every year on March 12, with the chief objective of educating people about the importance of kidney wellness, as well as to reduce the incidence of kidney disease amongst the universal population. It is a global health day of high significance, held annually since the year 2006, jointly by the International Society Of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation Of Kidney Foundations (IFKF).

Although being a non-communicable illness, kidney disease is, nevertheless, a chronic condition, requiring lifelong treatment and support.
