Today is Good Friday and it is observed across the world commemorating the crucifixion of Lord Jesus Christ. And after observing 40 days of Lent period, Christians celebrate Easter- the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ, the following Sunday. Easter this year falls on April 21.
Also known as Resurrection Sunday, it is celebrated with scrumptious food with Easter eggs, cakes, pie and bread. Easter meal is elaborate with various varieties and families come together for prayers and feast.

Cheesy Garlic Bread
Homemade buttery, rich, creamy and cheesy garlic bread serves as a perfect appetizer or starter before serving a well-laid Easter meal. It is easy to bake yummy garlic bread at home.

Ingredients
For Garlic Bread Dough:
¼ cup warm milk
1 tsp dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
A pinch of salt
3 cloves finely chopped, garlic
¾ tsp oregano
1 tsp unsalted butter
1 cup maida
2 tsp oil
For Garlic Butter:
¼ cup butter
3 cloves finely chopped, garlic
2 tbsp finely chopped, coriander leaves
Other Ingredients:
3 tbsp maida to dust
¼ cup mozzarella cheese
2 tsp chilli flakes
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp mixed herbs
Method
In a large bowl take warm milk, dry yeast and sugar and blend well. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Now add salt, garlic, oregano, butter and maida and knead the dough.
Coat the dough with oil and rest for 2 hours.
Punch the dough well.
Take a bowl mix in butter, garlic and coriander leaves.
Apply the prepared garlic butter over the dough generously.
Top with mozzarella cheese on half of the dough and season it well with chilli flakes and oregano.
Fold the dough and seal the edges. Brush generous amounts of prepared garlic butter.
Top with chili flakes and mixed herbs.
Prick the dough with fork to allow it to expand during baking.
Bake in preheated oven at 180-degree Celsius for 15 minutes.
Cut the garlic bread into slices and serve.
Vegetable Green Pie
Vegetable green pie is loaded with creamy veggie and flavoured with peppy spices.

Ingredients
1 cup chopped, spinach
½ cup cooked beans, peas and potato
2 ½ cups maida
Salt to taste
1/3 cup olive oil
1 tbsp oil for sealing and brushing
2 cloves garlic
1 cup finely chopped, onion
1 tsp black pepper powder
1 tbsp raisins
1 tbsp walnuts chopped
½ tsp lemon juice
Garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy the cheesy garlic bread.
Method
Preheat oven at 180°C. Place a silicon sheet on a baking tray.
Mix maida, 1 tsp salt and olive oil in a bowl. Add sufficient water and knead into a semi-soft dough. Keep it aside.
In a pan heat oil, add garlic, onion, salt and sauté till onion is lightly brown.
Add pepper powder, spinach, vegetables and toss well.
Add raisins, walnuts and sauté till the spinach is fully cooked.
Drizzle lemon juice and cook for a minute.
Cool cooked mixture to room temperature.
Dust the dough with little flour and roll out into a large thin sheet. Cut 8 round discs using a medium size cookie cutter.
Apply little oil on the edges of discs. Place a spoonful of spinach vegetable mixture in the center, bring in the edges, pinch and seal the edges.
Place the pie on the baking tray, brush with little oil and put in the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
Remove from heat and place the pies on a serving dish.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
