Frozen shoulder is a condition that affects shoulder joints involving pain and stifness that develops gradually, making it impossible to move. Though the causes are not clear, women above the age of 40 to 60 are more prone to this condition. Certain medical conditions like diabetes can increase the risk. Under this condition, a tissue surrounding the shoulder called as shoulder capsule becomes thick and tight making it hard to move. It can take anywhere from a year to 3 years to goaway. Diagnosis is done with the help of x-rays and MRI to rule out other problems.
