INTRODUCTION ABOUT SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET contains Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) which belongs to the group of medicines called Vitamin D analogs. It is used to manage Vitamin D deficiency. This may occur when your diet or lifestyle does not provide you enough vitamin D or when your body requires more vitamin D during pregnancy. 

Along with this management, your doctor might advise you to eat and drink foods that are rich in calcium. Your doctor might want to take certain blood tests prior to the management to understand the existing condition.  

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET is not recommended for use if you have high levels of calcium in the blood, malabsorption syndrome, hypervitaminosis D, renal osteodystrophy (kidney disease weakening the bones) with hyperphosphataemia.

Before taking SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET, inform your doctor if you have impaired kidney or liver function, immobilized due to osteoporosis, sarcoidosis (a multisystem chronic inflammatory condition which can affect your lungs, heart and kidneys) and hyperlipidemia (high lipid levels).

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET should be used with caution in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It should be used with caution in children and elderly patients. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any unusual effects during management with this medicine.

  • Prevents or manages vitamin D deficiency

HOW SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET WORKS

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET helps the body to absorb calcium and phosphorus by increasing their absorption from the gut and reducing the amount removed by the kidneys and is a fat-soluble vitamin.  

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET as advised by your physician. Chew the medicine completely before swallowing. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET

RARE

Stop taking SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • signs of impaired kidney function
  • severe allergic reaction (signs include rash, itching/swelling especially of the face/tongue/throat, severe dizziness and trouble breathing)

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women or women planning to have a baby as safety and effectiveness has not been established yet. Overdosage of this medicine can harm the fetus. Consult your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as small amounts of it pass into the breast milk. Your doctor will monitor the levels of calcium in your blood and the breastfed baby. Consult your doctor before taking it.

KIDNEY

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease or renal osteodystrophy (kidney disease weakening the bones) with hyperphosphatemia. It should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment. Consult your doctor before taking SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET.

LIVER

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET.

ALLERGY

Do not take SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET if you are allergic to Cholecalciferol or any other ingredients of this medicine.

HEART DISEASE

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET should be used with caution in patients with cardiac function impairment or arteriosclerosis (buildup of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on the artery walls). Consult your doctor before taking SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET.  

OTHERS

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

  • have high levels of vitamin D3 in the blood (hypervitaminosis D)
  • have high levels of calcium in blood
  • malabsorption syndrome

Before taking SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

  • are immobilized with osteoporosis
  • have sarcoidosis (a multisystem chronic inflammatory condition which can affect your lungs, heart, and kidneys)
  • have hyperlipidemia (high lipid levels)

Use in Pediatrics:

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET should be used with caution in children and infants. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

Use in Geriatrics:

SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Dose will be adjusted by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

Before taking SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • medicines used to manage epilepsy (Ex phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone)
  • other vitamin D containing medicines including multi-vitamins
  • medicines used to control the rate of your heartbeat (Ex. digoxin, digitoxin)
  • thiazide diuretics (water tablets) Ex. Bendroflumethiazide (used to manage fluid retention)
  • calcium supplements
  • antacids for indigestion (Ex. magnesium hydroxide)
  • medicine used to manage fungal infections (Ex. ketoconazole)
  • corticosteroids Ex. hydrocortisone or prednisolone (used to manage inflammatory condition)
  • laxatives such as paraffin oil (used to manage constipation)
  • cholestyramine used to manage high cholesterol
  • phosphate binding agents Ex. sevelamer (used to control high levels of phosphorous in the blood)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of SOLHIKE D3 CHEWABLE TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include hypervitaminosis, hypercalciuria and hypercalcaemia (signs include loss of appetite, thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, fatigue, mental disturbances, excess thirst or urination, bone pain, nephrocalcinosis, renal calculi and in severe cases it may cause cardiac arrhythmias).
