What is ELECTRAL POWDER 4.40GM?

Introduction:

Electral powder is oral rehydration salt (ORS). It is used for the replacement of fluid and electrolytes and maintenance of hydration in diarrhea, vomiting and other conditions where there is a loss of water and electrolytes.

Anhydrous dextrose is the primary ingredient of ORS. It is commonly called as glucose. It replenishes lost nutrients and electrolytes and provides metabolic energy. Sodium chloride plays an important role in regulating fluid balance in the body. It is used to manage or prevent sodium loss caused by dehydration, excessive sweating, or other causes. Potassium chloride maintains intracellular tonicity, is required for nerve conduction, cardiac, skeletal and smooth muscle contraction, production of energy, maintenance of blood pressure and normal renal function. Sodium citrate is the trisodium salt of citric acid. It works by neutralizing excess acid in the blood and urine. It has been indicated for the management of metabolic acidosis.

Electral powder is available in powder form. The entire contents of the sachet should be reconstituted in one litre of drinking water. For the purpose of reconstitution, use only plastic, glass or stainless-steel container.
