Lupus damages skin, joints, organs and other parts of the body. It is an autoimmune disease where the antibodies attack normal body cells. In this condition the immune system attacks and destroys healthy tissues.
This disease is associated with causing inflammation, pain, and damage to normal cells of the body. Lupus is non-contagious, and do not spread by touch or sharing of food or clothes. Since this a chronic disease the signs and symptoms endure over six weeks.

Visible symptoms include non-itchy lesions and reddish rashes, mainly in the areas of nose and cheeks. Other visible symptoms are pain, stiffness, and swelling of joints, dryness of mouth and eyes. Women on the other hand may face dryness in vagina and skin. Kidney inflammation is another major symptom, along with gastrointestinal problems and acidity or gastric problems, and thyroid problems that lead to extreme weight gain or loss.
There are various methods of diagnosing Lupus, which include, blood and urine tests, imaging tests of lungs or heart, and skin biopsy. Although there is no perfect medication or treatment method, yuet doctors prefer to administer drugs such as naproxen sodium, ibuprofen, hydroxychloroquine (anti-malarial drugs), corticosteroids, and a few other. However, in the recent times doctors have started to provide drugs to suppress the immune system such as, azathioprine, methotrexate and a few others.
