Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) also known as common nettle, burn nettle, stinging nettle, stinger, or nettle leaf is a herbaceous perennial flowering plant from the family of family Urticaceae. Nettle Potato Gravy
Ingredients
750 grams cut potatoes
500 grams of freshly chopped nettle leaves
1 onion
6 garlic cloves
1 piece ginger
3 tomatoes
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp turmeric powder or dried turmeric
1 tsp fenugreek seeds
Salt to taste
Cooking oil
Method
Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan and add the potatoes and turmeric
Stir and cook until potatoes are golden and keep aside
Heat oil in another pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds
Add onions, ginger and garlic, and cook for a minute
Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, fenugreek seeds, tomatoes, and salt
Cook until a thick curry is formed
At this stage, stir in cooked potatoes and stir well
Add nettle and a little water, cover with a lid, and cook until leaves have wilted down
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot
