According to studies the metabolic activity of skin peaks at night, even as you catch your beauty sleep, and night creams leave your skin supple, smooth and glowing by morning.

Night creams enriched with Vitamin A reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines over a period of time while peptides help in clearing the dead cells. Vitamin C in these creams acts as an antioxidant, providing a good amount of collagen for that supple, smooth, elasticity of the skin.

While there are several night creams flooding the market, you can also make your own homemade night creams that can be stored in dry, tight containers. Be sure to use within a month.

Homemade Night Creams:

1. Olive Oil Night Cream:

Olive oil act as an excellent moisturizer and coconut oil helps in repairing the skin making it supple and soft.

Ingredients:

200 ml extra virgin olive oil

30 ml coconut oil

1 tsp beeswax

2 Vitamin E capsules

Method:

Heat a saucepan, mix olive oil, coconut oil and beeswax. Stir it till it completely melts and thickens.

Crush vitamin E capsules and add it to the contents in saucepan. Switch off the stove and let it cool down completely.

Store it in a dry, airtight container. You can use this cream for two months.

2. Cocoa Butter Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream

Cocoa butter works wonders for a dry, dull and wrinkled skin. Coconut oil and olive oil bring back the glow.

Ingredients:

100 gms of cocoa butter

15 ml coconut oil

15 ml extra virgin olive oil

Method:

Heat a saucepan on low flame. Add cocoa butter, coconut and olive oil.

Give it a nice stir till all the ingredients mix properly.

Turn off the stove and allow it cool.

Store in a dry, airtight container and use it for a month. 

3. Apple Night Cream:

Apples are rich in vitamins A and C which act as excellent antioxidants. These vitamins repair the skin overnight, exfoliate and remove dead cells.

Ingredients:

2 firm red apples

5 tsp fresh rose water

1 tsp extra virgin olive oil

Method:

Chop apples into small pieces. Blend it with olive oil.

Make it in to a smooth paste.

Take a saucepan, add the paste and rose water.

Mix it well, turn off the stove.

Let it cool before transferring the contents in to an airtight container.

Refrigerate it and can use it for a week.

4. Orange Night Cream:

This DIY recipe is effective for oily skin that helps to reduce greasiness and control oil secretion. It offers your skin with right sustenance.

Ingredients

4 tsp orange peel

1 tsp orange essential oil

1 tsp petroleum jelly

1 tsp glycerine

Method

Blend all the ingredients into a fine paste.

 Transfer the contents into an airtight container.

Refrigerate it and can use it for a week.

5. Green Tea/Aloe vera Night Cream

Green tea and aloe vera cream work to repair skin from damage caused by pollution. Regular usage of this cream helps to rejuvenate skin cells from deep within.

Ingredients

1 tbsp green tea extract

1 tsp almond oil

1 tsp rose water

1 tsp aloe vera gel

1 tsp bee wax

Method

Mix all the ingredients into a creamy paste.

Store it in an airtight container and use it for a week.
