Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is the most common lung infection diseases. CAP is defined as pneumonia that is acquired outside the hospital with a high rate of mortality. It is caused by several pathogens such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, atypical bacteria and viruses. Atypical bacteria causing pneumonia affects mostly the elderly and the oxygen-absorbing areas of the lungs filled with fluid. Specific treatment depends upon the nature of the symptoms and type of germs causing it. Community-acquired pneumonia can be treated by antibiotics depending upon the type of germs in the community.
