Brain tumours are classified into two types – Grade 1 and Grade 2. Grade 1 is benign whereas Grades 2, 3, 4 are malignant tumours. In Grade 1 tumour the mass or growth of abnormal cells does not contain cancer cells, it contains pituitary adenomas, meningioma tumours which can be cured by surgery and they do not recur. Grade 2, 3, 4 are other types of cancer in which, grade 2 is less likely to spread. Grade 3 and 4 are high grade tumours and diagnosis is done through an MRI with contrast for a detailed understanding about the size of tumour, location and surgery to be done.
