Cellulitis is one of the most painful skin infections caused from fatal bacteria. The infection, if neglected at first instance of signs and symptoms may turn into a life-threatening condition.

Cellulitis can be referred as a common skin condition, associated with multiple bacterial infection. Bacterial species are mainly Streptococcus sp. and Staphylococcus sp. is responsible for cellulitis. In the early stage of infection, cellulitis may appear as a tiny red spot, which can eventually get swollen, become hot and tender.

The condition is usually painful and turns out to be fatal, if spread to other important organs of the body.  Development of cellulitis is common on the legs, but can occur anywhere on the body.

Bacterial infections through multiple skin injuries, infections, etc. are the main causative factor of cellulitis. Compromised immune system, skin infections, athlete’s foot, eczema, and diabetes are also responsible for the same.

The diagnosis is often done on the basis of evaluation of family history, medical background, X-ray analysis, lung function test along with the analysis of phlegm and blood.

Depending upon the final assessments and complexity of the health condition, a doctor may prescribe steroidal medication, nebulization and/or steroidal medications.
