What is sensitive skin?
Skin that is likely to react to certain products or conditions by turning red, itchy, and even form wounds. If you experience such issues, then you have a sensitive skin. The most difficult part about this type of skin is that it restricts the usage of skin care products to a large extent. This happens due to inadequate sebum production by the sebaceous glands, which results in the skins failure to protect itself from harmful chemicals. Reactions can occur in all type of skin, but sensitive skin is more prone. Moisturizer plays a very vital role in calming your sensitive skin.
Look out for products that suit your skin
1.Keep away from lanolin, mineral oil and petroleum-jelly in your moisturizer. This causes rashes on your skin. Look for Shea butter, coconut oil, aloe which are mild.
2.Avoid using perfume and fragrance in your moisturizer, fragrance is added in the form of lavender oil, jasmine oil etc.
3.Choose hypoallergic sunscreens, cleansers, moisturizers, etc that are proven to soothe allergic reactions.
4.Avoid moisturizers with preservatives. Imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, and quaternium-15, parabens are some of the skin irritating preservatives. Choose gentle preservatives like vitamin C, E, citrus seed extract etc.
5.Go for moisturizer with SPF. Sun exposure can lead to redness and rashes of your skin.
